All Big Moss Putting Greens have their entertainment value. Put on some tunes, fire up the grill, pour a few beverages and have fun putting with your buds. The Competitor is fine for that, but it has a more business-like side too. It is also built for some serious and challenging practice by featuring 3 holes, each a different size. Putting to a smaller hole is becoming and increasingly popular practice drill with teaching and touring professionals alike. We all know the feeling of the days when the hole looks huge! We feel like we are putting into a basketball rim, and can make anything from anywhere. It is all about confidence, and we can all have more of those days if we routinely practice to a smaller target hole. My favorite drill is to putt 4 balls from 2 feet into the 2" cup, four from 4 feet into the 3 inch cup, and then 4 from 6 feet to the regulation cup. Its amazing just on this short drill how big the regulation cup looks, even from 6 feet! But, not only does putting to a smaller hole increase your confidence, it perfects your speed. If you have a tendancy to run 4-5 foot putts 2-3 feet past the hole when you miss, then practice putting to a small hole. It will not let you get away with a putt that is too firm- they just don't fall (especially in a 2 inch cup). It is the easiest way to get control of your speed on putts inside 6 feet.
